It's the 1960s and Elisa lives a lonely, isolated life with her neighbor, Giles, and coworker, Zelda, as her only friends. While working as a cleaner at a top secret government facility, Elisa’s life changes when she meets and develops a friendship with an amphibious creature being kept in isolation and tortured by Strickland. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “The Shape of Water”.

· Strickland walks into the men’s room while Elisa and Zelda are cleaning. He lays the electric prod diagonally, right to left, over the middle sink. In the close-up of the sink, when Strickland tells Elisa, “Look, don’t touch”, the prod is vertical across the granite counter, touching the bottom of the middle sink.

· Also, during this scene, Elisa places towels between the middle and third sink. The scene cuts to a view of Elisa as Strickland is explaining about the prod and the towers aren’t there. Elisa is shown placing the towels between the sinks again when Strickland tells her his name.

· Elisa brings an egg to the Amphibian Man. As he approaches, the front view shows Elisa takes her brown paper bag and puts it below the wall. It cuts to a view of the Amphibian Man and she lowers the bag again.

· Elisa and Giles are arguing about saving the Amphibian Man. Giles makes the “save every fish in the tank” comment and lifts the bed back into the wall. Elisa signs the “loneliest thing you’ve ever seen” comment and the bed is still in the wall in the background. She grabs Giles at the door and, as he’s talking, the bed is down in the background.

· Strickland is trying to get information out of Hoffstetler. He yells, “the one who took the asset”, and shocks Hoffstetler with the prod in the lower left side of his stomach. It cuts to a quick view of Strickland while he’s shocking him and then back to the view of Hoffstetler, where the prod is now in the upper right part of his chest.

“The Shape of Water” (2017) stars Sally Hawkins, Octavia Spencer, Michael Shannon, Doug Jones, and Richard Jenkins. It runs 123 minutes and is rated R for sexual content, graphic nudity, violence and language.
