Sarah D Review

Sarah D Review
Trading in her home in Adelaide, Australia for a new life in California, independent pop/rock artist Sarah D has the capability of easily blending her two genres through direct lyrics and smooth, memorable melodies. Her debut EP contains an array of emotionally raw and confronting songs that are sure to send this girl to the top.

Sarah D wrote her first song “Gone” and recorded her first single, “With You” (written by Cody Wood) for an independent feature film, titled Starting From Scratch, which featured Elizabeth Sandy and James Huang. In addition, Sarah D worked with producers and DJ’s including Jeff Silbar and Uberjack’d, and received the 2012 scholarship to the VocalizeU Art Intensive where she worked with industry professionals to assist with her development as an artist.

Compared to the likes of power-pop singer Kelly Clarkson, Sarah D released her debut EP titled “Over You,” and the recordings are filled with her resilient, girl-power attitude. Opening with the quirky breakup song, “Stand Up,” Sarah D shows that she’s not your typical pop princess, but instead she is a strong, independent woman with a passionate, sassy attitude. But don’t get the wrong message; the EP isn’t all upbeat pop rock tunes. Sarah D mixes it up with slower tracks such as “Crying Over The Rainbow” and “Make The World.” “Crying Over The Rainbow” shows Sarah’s soft, vulnerable side as the almost-entire acoustic song is very well-written and amazingly produced. Similarly, “Make The World” is a soft-sung track with a positive message.

All of the sentiments displayed throughout Sarah’s songs are enveloped in cheerful dance friendly beats and bright, open choruses (produced by Colombian producer, Andres Torres) which makes them very appealing to her audience. The title track is a pop-punk sensation with the overall message of independence. It’s the perfect single off the record with Sarah’s amazing range and pop-infused, yet mature beat. Along with the pop song “Over You” is the breakup anthem titled “Gone.” The easy switch between her soft-spoken vocals to the punk rock wails is a sure sign of Sarah D’s upcoming success and staying power within this fast-changing industry.

Currently focusing on the promotion of her debut EP through live performances, college radio play and various publications, Sarah D has future plans on a debut album release to follow, Sarah D continues to write and collaborate with as many songwriters, musicians and producers possible.
