How much does a Trojan Horse weigh?, a film review
Juliusz Machulski, a director of the movie, is a famous director of the times when Poland was under Communism. His films are among the most popular and funniest ones. They laughed at the times during which the Poles needed to live in. What else was there to do? The best weapon was laugh and irony of the system that one hated.

But that move was made when the Poles lived in free country and many of them have already forgotten the times of Communism or they have never experienced it. It was a trial whether we can still laugh at something that seems to be now so far away.

The movie is about a woman who was disappointed by her youth. She spent it with a husband who cheated on her. She was already middle aged when she met her true love. When she gets dressed in an old dress from her youth, she expresses a wish that she would like to go back to those times and meet her true love when she was young. And the time goes back.

The movie shows very similar sense of humor than previous films of Machulski did. But it allows also to compare those times with what we have and how we live nowadays.

Many think that it is a failure and cannot be compared to previous films of Juliusz Machulski. It might be. But it might be also that we started to laugh at different things or we simply do not want to go back to the past that we are not so fond of. But to me, the movie is still one of the best Polish comedies of recent times. It has a tasty humor and fabulous episodes.
Maybe ‘How much does a Trojan Horse weigh’ cannot be compared to such comedies of Machulski as Seksmisja (Sexmisison) – if there is any Polish comedy that can be compared to that one – or Kingsajz. It might be also slightly worse to recent comedies such as ‘Pieniadze to nie wszysko’ (money is not everything) – but it is still a very good movie.

I have seen the movie already twice and will surely recommend it to those that like sense of humor that Machulski represents. It is also a very nostalgic come back to the times that the Poles used to live in.
